Suppose you're too lazy to build in this building game and instead decide to make a base in one of the naturally generated structures. What would be the best and worst options?
Near the bottom has to be the the treasure chest. A single chest underground with nothing else. Simply cannot function as a base. Besides that, anything in the nether and end is a no go because you need a base before getting to the nether, and you can't sleep there anyway.
Near the top I'd say are village. Village trades are just so strategically valuable once I discover one I spend most of my time there anyway. Even comes with free beds and iron! Main downside is if you get the bad omen effect you gotta not go home for a while so you need a separate outpost to stay at.
That downside also applies to igloos which technically count as villages for spawning raids despite being much less useful. But hey, early game brewing stand and weakness potion I guess.
I used to make bases in jungle temples years back, haven't found them in a while. I remember having trouble finding good spots on the inside to place stuff like beds and furnaces without blocking walkways. Despite the overall structure being big.
Desert temples seem good and roomy if you can just solve the wood and food problem that deserts have.
Ocean monument... Fuck no but kudos if you manage it.
Woodland mansion... Nice and houselike, but... Perhaps too big. And full of illagers.
Abandoned mineshaft? Maybe if you wall off a section and make sure you know how not to get lost in the rest.
Stronghold? Not bad, but you don't find one until the endgame anyway.
