Can you stop villagers from gossiping?

I’m building an iron farm near to my base but my villager trading hall is spawning unwanted iron golems which I think is messing with it. They don’t have any reason to panic cos there’s no zombies in there so it must be gossiping. How do I stop this? Like do villagers have to have no blocks in between them to stop gossiping?
