Counting, but 3x+1 problem

If you have no clue what the 3x+1 problem, aka the collatz conjecture is, essentially this is what happens:

- start off with a number
- if the number is even, halve it
- if the number is odd, triple it and add 1
- repeat step 2-3 with this new number until it reduces to 1


for instance the number 3 would have this sequence: 3, 10, 5, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1


the number you will state would be the number of iterations, so for instance if you are counting the number 3 you would therefore say 7
