With the addition of a new gemstone in the nether update, there is an opportunity for many more gemstones to be added. There wouldn't be a lot of NEW gemstones added, but a few exclusive to islands, for example opal.
New gemstones
Aquamarine: [If Hardstone Collection IX and Gemstone X, placing hardstone minions T10 and up underwater will occasionally generate aquamarine, but at the cost of 50% minion speed.
Rough: +1 speed
Flawed: +2 Speed [64 roughs]
Fine: +3 Speed [64 flawed]...
