Custom texturepack for 1.9 items in 1.8.9

I am trying/attempting to make a custom texturepack for the dragon skull that lets you use it in 1.8.9, without it just appearing as a flat skeleton skull

Now I have no idea what you would call this, but I would call it an absolute failure, so if anyone can help pls reply or dm me on discord
