Deleting the HISTORY of a convo or a post

We have situations where a user has posted personally identifiable information and edits it out of a post or convo message.

However it stays in the edit history which is also stored in plain text in the database.

I don't know if I have asked this before - cannot find anything.

Is it possible to edit or permanently delete a history record?
