the reason mining isn't broken is cause almost every ore/gemstone/non-ore block has a crafting recipe used in late game gameplay. whereas when farming was adding the only real use for any crop was potato's for potato books and there was already a way to get them before garden. every crop in the garden past fermento armor was just a npc sell fodder. one of the reasons most mining ores/gemstones sell more to bazaar then npc is because they have practical uses outside of just making money...
