How to display number of posts in header

I'm not even sure if this is possible, but if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be appreciated. I would like to show the number of posts in a node in the header of the node (see mock-up below) I would change posts to 'Movies' so it would give members an indication of how many movies are in that category.



Each category of movies is a node and each movie is a post, if those parameters help. With thanks to anyone who can help.
