How to Include More Details in RSS Feeds?

I’m wondering if it's possible to extend the RSS feed to include additional details such as the short description of resources, resource icons, tags, etc.

Can this be achieved by default, or would it require custom development? If custom development is needed, are there any existing addons that could help with this?
