Is it normal for rebuilding search index to index missing or deleted posts?

I'm rebuilding search index through command line as it for some reason stopped working through the browser.

The rebuilding is successful, but I am confused as I deleted most of my forum nodes and posts. But despite that, it's indexing all these posts that shouldn't be there.

Should I be rebuilding something else before rebuilding the search index?
Is it normal for rebuilding search index to index missing or deleted posts?
