Is it worth buying an Efficiency X Golden/Diamond Pickaxe?

I want to start doing F7 and stonking is too important here. Also it's really hard for me to do a bomb defuse with a normal stonk.
  • Is it only useful for a bomb defuse or is it useful for something else?
  • Is it worth actually buying?
  • Which is better: Golden or Diamond pickaxe? They both can insta mine iron bars.
