january
a new beginning
the end of the old year
in with the new year
the soft winter snow
keeps on coming
the northern lights
flicker above the trees
like spirits in the sky
the parades in red
fireworks filling the starry night
a remembrance
for those we lost
to a terrible crime committed
by a power hungry dictator
never shall we commit it again
a peace fills the air
all is quiet
as the frost blankets the grass
on the cold icy ground
