Need help with mining mmm (Iam lost)

Hello, so like in the title Iam quite lost with the mining mmm,
I restart playing skyblock few weeks ago

I watch a lot of video but there are all quite different.
The main question I have is: To make money I saw that nucleus run was very good, but I don't understand if I need to have a very good mining gear or not, what I mean by that is, for nucleus run you don't really need to mine right ? (appart for making the route) so the money you gain is at the end after placing every crystal right...
