Pest spawn rates

I farm a lot, and I use pest repellant max so I can farm for an hour without worrying about pests. In the last two hours though, I have gotten 0 pests, then 1 pest, in the entire hour. Was pest repellant buffed or smth, or is this just a thing that's happening for some reason? I looked at the recent patch notes and didn't see anything, but apparently they removed bomb diffuse? weird
