tanking the lightning from storm

so in new F7 phase 2 storm sometimes use its thunder ability thing and people keep saying go under pillar to not get the damage but even when i was not under pillar i didnt die. but there was that 1 run i smh died from it, anyone know when it 1 shots and when it doesnt?
