Tarantula helmet bugged??

So I am using 3/4 strong with tarantula helmet. I have nearly maxed fairy souls I need like 7 and this is without talismans. if my strength has increased then why isn't my crit damage increasing if I haven't hit the cap. is this a bug?? ill test with talismans but please help me. also what is the plus 5 damage bonus and how do i get it on future weapons??
