What is going on with the lag?

I keep joining Skyblock and after 2 minutes of joining in the game freezes, lags and everything freezes including chat and the next thing is I get kicked from the server saying "Disconnected", then I rejoin and I see no lag, but happens again after a few minutes. What is this?
