Why does my friend do so much more damage than me?

My friend and I both decided to grind voidgloom slayer. We have the same setups, if not, mine's a little better, yet I only do around 190-210k damage while he does 350-375k per hit. Why is that? Sure, he is like 2 combat levels above me, but that shouldn't make anywhere near that big of a difference.
