reason 1: better server performance
servers run better in 1.16.5 then 1.8.9 which is why 2b2t is planning to update to that version as 1.8 and 1.12 are simply inferior to 1.16
reason 2: so many new features
hundreds of blocks
new mobs
new weapons
and endless possibilities, cant wait for the end and nether in skyblock to actually look good imo
reason 3:
more gamemode possiblities with the new blocks, mobs, features and stuff that can be added. bedwars maps would look so cool with 1.16 blocks...
