XFES and multiple forums

If you have multiple forums on one instance, can you run XFES on all (or more than 1) of them?

Or do you need to run 1 forum on 1 instance with Elasticsearch?

Further, would running 2 ES-enabled forums on 1 instance confuse the forums or would they know to search that forum only and not provide results from another forum?

New to XFES/Elasticsearch.
