I am on 2.1.10 Patch 2 and I want to update to 2.1.12 - is command line necessary for this small update?

I am on 2.1.10 Patch 2 and I want to update to 2.1.12 - is command line necessary for this small update or is that for upgrading versions?

I have 2.9 million posts and 5k members so I know command line is necessary when I move to 2.2.
