First of all, i do think that Hardcore ironman shouldn't be just another ironman profile but with few changes. It should have unique mechanics and features that will make it refreshing. As for the punishment, I don't think dying = switch to regular ironman or losing profile is a good thing either.
Personally i think punishment should be harsher, then on ironman, but dying = losing is way too harsh.
I'd say it should be like:
